Our Story

The Ethiopian Peace Archive began with a simple belief: that everyday people want peace, and their voices deserve to be heard. Over five years (2017-2022), we collected over 1,000 voices from every region of Ethiopia — Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, Somali, Afar, Sidama, SNNPR, Gambella, Harari, Benishangul-Gumuz, Addis Ababa, and Dire Dawa.

We also received messages of solidarity from across the globe — China, Germany, Russia, USA, Jamaica, India, Somalia, Nigeria, UK, France, and more. These voices remind us that peace is not just an Ethiopian desire — it's a universal hope.

Our Mission

To preserve, share, and amplify the voices of everyday Ethiopians and global supporters who believe in peace, unity, and coexistence — creating a permanent, searchable, and accessible archive that counter-narratives conflict with hope.

Methodology

Voices were collected through in-person interviews, written submissions, and community gatherings across Ethiopia. All contributors gave informed consent for their anonymized words to be shared publicly. Personal identifying information is kept strictly confidential and offline.

Why Anonymity?

We protect every contributor's identity. In times of conflict, speaking for peace can be dangerous. Anonymity ensures that voices are heard without putting anyone at risk. What matters is the message, not the messenger.
