๐ About the Movement
Our Story
The Ethiopian Peace Archive began with a simple belief: that everyday people want peace, and their voices deserve to be heard. Over five years, from 2017 to 2022, we collected over 1,000 voices from every region of Ethiopia โ Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, Somali, Afar, Sidama, SNNPR, and beyond.
We also received messages of solidarity from across the globe โ China, Germany, Russia, the United States, Jamaica, India, Somalia, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, France, and more. These voices remind us that peace is not just an Ethiopian desire โ it's a universal hope.
Our Mission
To preserve, share, and amplify the voices of everyday Ethiopians and global supporters who believe in peace, unity, and coexistence โ creating a permanent, searchable, and accessible archive that counter-narratives conflict with hope.
Methodology
Voices were collected through in-person interviews, written submissions, and community gatherings. All contributors gave informed consent for their anonymized words to be shared publicly. Personal identifying information is kept strictly confidential and offline.
Each voice was categorized by region, year, language, and theme. Sentiment analysis was applied to understand the emotional tone of each message โ and the overwhelming majority express hope.
Why Anonymity?
We protect every contributor's identity. In times of conflict, speaking for peace can be dangerous. Anonymity ensures that voices are heard without putting anyone at risk. What matters is the message, not the messenger.
